David Fish, Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Highland Gold, Passes Away
It is with great regret that Highland Gold Mining Ltd. reports that David Fish, Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Highland Gold, passed away in a tragic car accident in South Africa on December 22, 2007. Highland Gold's Board of Directors and management express their sincere condolences to David’s wife and family.
Mr. Fish was associated with Highland Gold since February 2005 when he joined its Board of Directors. He graduated from the faculty of science at the University of Witswatersrand, South Africa. His professional career as a chartered accountant was with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co., now KPMG. He left in 1988 as a partner and Chairman of their Banking and Finance Practice to join Anglo American Corporation. He retired from Anglo in 2002 as Executive Vice-President having served in the finance division and new business which involved developing mining projects in Africa from early exploration through to final commissioning. Along with Highland Gold, David Fish also served as a Non-Executive Director of Bindura Nickel Corporation Limited and Mwana Africa plc. He was 61 years old.
David’s successor to the Highland Gold Board of Directors will be appointed in due course.
